We'll find out eventually when they are. Features, articles, sailing, Hans Arend de Wit |
![]() Dear monsieur Carpedi, suddenly it struck me that the man I photographed in front of the Carlton Hotel in Cannes a month ago must have been you. Did you indeed switch from old postcards to modern art and a bigger formatt? Wishing you a nice time, Guillaume Louis. |

![]() A swift errand early in the morning. |
![]() A surprising benefit of our network is that distances are virtually no hindrances, so Thom the Plume, who spotted Marcel Carpedi on a peage heading South - probably on his search for postcards - after having thundered through the night, could mail us this picture, a postcard in itself, for the Phlog. |

![]() Russo Baltique. ![]() Ferrari 575 Zagato. ![]() Farallimazzanti Antas. Following the chats about the lookalike Beetle rear windows I found some more fascinating butts, & all but buried! Found them in Gizmag Magazine. Whaddaya think? Thom de Plume |
![]() Upon our question what car the rusty wreck near Seattle could have been some knowlegeable connoisseurs reacted saying it was a old Volks. Is it? Freek Q.P.: Old Beetle. M. Carpedi: Seems a Ford to me. Hans: It's not a Lancia Aprilia. Harald Bresser: Old Beetle. Erik Verhaest: Ford late thirties. M. Carpedi again: Five of my most beloved Dinky's, Buick, Lincoln, Studebaker, Chrysler, Oldsmobile. They all have these double windows in the rear! ![]() ![]() It's very difficult to find back views of old cars - no one cares about back views... they just want the nose. And Google offered more than 18 pages for 1939 Plymouth. It's hard to imagine all the hot rod builders who have tackled '39 Plymouths - talk about your ordinary automobile. But I found these butt ends, and they are as close to my mysterious, half-buried car as anything I've seen. The car was definitely NOT a Beetle --windows wrong shape, size of car wrong as well. Whaddaya think? Lewis You've done a great job to give your find some background, but I wouldn't settle for less! Cheerz, Hanz |
