Dear monsieur Carpedi, suddenly it struck me that the man I photographed
in front of the Carlton Hotel in Cannes a month ago must have been you.
Did you indeed switch from old postcards to modern art and a bigger formatt?
Wishing you a nice time, Guillaume Louis.

"My bike or yours?"

They also come in blue.

Evidently Pam Bruin, physio girl.

Peter Paul Huf, same street, same boy.

I crave for an ice cream, or something else.

Aston Martin on the Apollolaan DB?
An old man's boy's dream, driving down the Apollolaan in an Aston.

Not a Riley but a Wolseley. Note the British green dress!

"Hot!"

Hot!

We've waited a long time for a summer day like this.

Mascot and supervisor.

A pause in Tilly's Nailstudio.

Pinkish buds transformed into fresh green leaves.

Marcel Carpedi sent us the picture message saying that he arrived in his hotel
at the Promenade des Anglais, in Cannes. Click for more postcards.|

"I am not a lollypop!"

"You are amidst a lot of noise y'rself man!"

On het way to another summer boot sale.

Studio Kappers, the hair stylist studio.

"And please sit still."

"Did you see those boots underneath that green dress?"

Green!

In front of the Concert Hall.

"Won't take a minute she said."

"Why don'tcha sit down for a cup of coffee?"

"First to the shoeshop."

"And now we're going to Albert Heijn."

Surgeons with a helmet.

First left, then right.

She's wearing the postman's attire but not carrying any mail.

Another chap on front of the Salvation Army.

On the way back with his loaf of bread he took this one.

Later in the morning Lens Guy intended to go to the beach.
First he went to the bakery, taking some photos on the go.

Kite for the kids.

Fine Summer weather. Lens Guy went to the beach.

"We haven't seen a single Mercedes here!"

"I said Summer's in the air!"

"Lovely."

"How did you know? No James Dean's car was a later type."

"Salvation is in the name of the Army."

"Kiss!"

"I just had a holiday in the snow."

"Yes, Spring's in the streets."

New live trees to be planted inside the shop.

They waited for green as if in Lithuania, but we guessed they are Belgians.

"Well, it took us some time to get here, but here we are."
(Lens Guy)

A swift errand early in the morning.

A surprising benefit of our network is that distances are virtually no hindrances,
so Thom the Plume, who spotted Marcel Carpedi on a peage heading South
- probably on his search for postcards - after having thundered through the night,
could mail us this picture, a postcard in itself, for the Phlog.

20:41.

Is monsieur Carpedi on holiday or does he want us to believe that?

Following the chats about the lookalike Beetle rear windows
I found some more fascinating butts, & all but buried!
Found them in Gizmag Magazine.
Whaddaya think? Thom de Plume

Upon our question what car the rusty wreck near Seattle could have been
some knowlegeable connoisseurs reacted saying it was a old Volks. Is it?

Freek Q.P.: Old Beetle.
M. Carpedi: Seems a Ford to me.
Hans: It's not a Lancia Aprilia.
Harald Bresser: Old Beetle.
Erik Verhaest: Ford late thirties.
M. Carpedi again: Five of my most beloved Dinky's,
Buick, Lincoln, Studebaker, Chrysler, Oldsmobile.
They all have these double windows in the rear!

It's very difficult to find back views of old cars - no one cares about back views...
they just want the nose. And Google offered more than 18 pages for 1939 Plymouth.
It's hard to imagine all the hot rod builders who have tackled '39 Plymouths -
talk about your ordinary automobile. But I found these butt ends,
and they are as close to my mysterious, half-buried car as anything I've seen.
The car was definitely NOT a Beetle --windows wrong shape, size of car wrong as well.
Whaddaya think? Lewis

You've done a great job to give your find some background, but I wouldn't settle for less!

Buds quickly develop into Spring leaves these days.

Bit rusty but being dishonest the rot was photoshopped away.

"Not there Blair!"

"Already past 10:30."

"It's almost lunchtime!"

"Summer boot sale!"

"Please let me know when y'r going," said Guy.

My Promised Land

In the Spring of 2002 Roger Sparks was traveling
with a virgin agenda when he landed
in America on the off chance, so it seemed at first.
But he had a plan, to meet Dr. Robert Ballard,
the discoverer of the Titanic.
